Farmers Day: Abuakwa South Honors Digital Farmer Of The Year, Physically Challenged Farmer & Others

At the 36th annual farmers day celebration in Ghana, the Abuakwa South municipal Assembly as part of its honorary, has honored a digital farmer of the year, physically challenged farmer of the year, Best Basic School in Agriculture amongst others.

The best digital farmer of the year confirms the presidents decision to digitalize all aspects of the economy for effective growth and development.

The Digital farmer of the year, Mr William Kwaku Ompong from Kyebi Domeabra is noted for promoting his farm work on social media i.e. facebook, instagram, twitter and websites. The best physically challenged farmer went to Mr Samuel Afotey from Akyem Sagyimase.

As the municipal is poised at starting Agriculture from the scratch, Asiakwa Presby Basic School was adjudged as the best basic school in Agriculture. Below is the full list of the winners;

Best Crop Farmer – Mr Nelson Akwasi Addo – Bunso

Best Physically Challenged farmer – Mr Samuel Afotey – Sagyimase

Best Tree crop farmer – Ms Beatrice Asante – Akwadum

Best Irrigation Farmer – Mr Mark ofosu Boakye – Odumase

Best Agro-forestry Farmer – Mr Frank Owusu Asare – Asiakwa

Best Digital Farmer – Mr William Kwaku Ompong – Kyebi Domeabra

Best Quality Maize Producer – Djaba Co-operative Farmers Assoc. – Djaba

Best FBO – Nyame Akwan Co-operative Society – Asiakwa

Best Basic School In Agriculture – Asiakwa Presby School – Asiakwa

The ceremony was held at Bunso cocoa College under the chairmanship of Osabarima Abeam Brakatu Ofori Aninkra, Bunsohene supported by chiefs in the municipal. Present also were the MCE Hon. Kojo Ofori Safo, representative of the MP, Mr Yaw Boakye Yiadom, The Municipal Coordinating Director, Mrs Vera Akuffo Mante, NCCE Abuakwa South, among other dignitaries.
