As political campaigns intensify with less than two weeks to Ghana’s general election 2020, the national Chairman for the National Democratic congress, NDC, Hon. Dr Samuel Ofosu Ampofo in his unannounced one day tour in the Abuakwa South constituency in the eastern region has responded to the incumbent member of parliament for the constituency who doubles as the minister for works and housing, Hon. Samuel Atta Akyea and currently seeking re-election on the ticket of the governing New Patriotic Party, NPP, for labelling him as the “God Of Akyem Adukrom”.

Speaking at a gathering at the durbar grounds of Akyem Adukrom in the Abuakwa South constituency on Saturday, 28th November 2020, Dr Samuel Ofosu Ampofo emphatically stated that if the incumbent member of parliament has failed to develop the community in his tenure, why won’t their ascribe one who helps them in the community development as their God.

According to the NDC chairman, Hon. Samuel Atta Akyea has taken the people of Adukrom for granted for which reason Akyem Adukrom is under developed.

“I drilled the borehole at Akyem Adukrom. NDC built the school here. We brought light to Akyem Adukrom. What has Hon. Atta Akyea done for Akyem Adukrom? Are we not part of Ghana? I hear Atta Akyea came here to campaign and said you have made me your God, so why won’t you make me your God when he has failed to provide even just a cup of water for you, let alone build boreholes?” – Chairman Ofosu Ampofo said.

Hon. Ofosu Ampofo argued that if what he is saying is wrong, why would Akyem Adukrom be neglected in the distribution of street lights in the constituency. He therefore appealed to them to vote massively for the NDC presidential and parliamentary candidates respectively.
