Ghana Statistical Service To Conduct Post Enumeration Survey In Fanteakwa South District

After the third trial of the Housing and Population Census in fanteakwa South District in the eastern region, the institution is ready to conduct a post enumeration survey in the same district.
After a 10 (ten) day intensive workshop, GSS sets 22nd February 2021 to 15th March 2021 for the Post Enumeration Survey.
The ten day training exercise was carried out to equip the Post Enumeration Survey (PES) field staff with the skills and techniques to collect data using computer Assisted Personal Interviewing. Fifteen (15) enumeration Areas have been randomly selected to access the quality of the third trial Population and Housing Census in the fanteakwa South District in terms of coverage and content.
The trial PES will also afford the project implementation team to test the processes and methodology and fine-tune data collection.

The trial PES will cover enumeration Areas in the following localities in the fanteakwa South district;
- Nsutam (Apostolic church Ghana area)
- Osino (Methodist Church Area)
- Osino (Durbar Grounds area)
- Abompe (Chief Palace area)
- Hemang (SDA Primary School Area)
- Hemang (Presby Church Area)
- Bosuso (R/C Primary School Area)
- Kplandey and surrounding Hamlets
- Asedja Dorse
- Sokwenya and Surrounding hamlets
- Ehiamenkyene Odumase ( D/A Primary School Area)
- Ehiamenkyene Odumase ( Pentecost Church Area)
- Nkankama Sk (Jesus Mission Church Area)
- Nwomase
- Abetenso and surrounding hamlets.
The District Chief executive of the fanteakwa South, Hon. Kwasi Ntori Adjabeng graced the occasion together with his Coordinating Director, Mr John Vardy and urged the field workers to keep on serving the nation without anything in return for their rewards is in heaven. He added that by doing so, they will enrich their curriculum vitae for future use.
The Director of Social and Demographic statistics directorate of the Ghana Statistical Service, Mr Anthony Amuzu – Pharin pleaded with the field staff to work towards achieving a zero error as the embark on the survey.
Moreover, the PES census coordinator, Mr Emmanuel Boateng said per their workshop he is confident the field officers would work up to standard the expected goal for which they embark on the survey. He added that the field officers are expected to work across the selected areas in a team of 5 members including a supervisor, three enumerators and a driver.
The eastern regional head of Ghana Statistical Service, Mr Bright Neku Walanyo took turn to appreciate the support of the assembly but urged the officers to go all out to make the survey a success. The District Census Officer (DCO), Mr George Asiedu was also part of the activity.
Background
As part of the preparatory activities by the Ghana Statistical Service (GSS) towards the conduct of the 2021 population and Housing Census, a trial Census III was conducted from January 4 2021 to February 3 2021 in the Fanteakwa South district in the eastern region to fine-tune the census instruments and methodology.
Post Enumeration Survey (PES) exercise has been part of the Ghana’s Population and Housing Census (PHC) activities since 1960 to scientifically evaluate the census. The 2021 PHC has been earmarked to take place in the second quarter of the year. In All 88 enumeration Areas were canvassed from the district and enumerated by the trial census officials.
