A Truck Fully Loaded With Don Simon Falls Into River Birim On The Accra – Kumasi Highway

A fully loaded truck with registration number GR 3425 – U en route from Accra to Kumasi has today, 22nd March 2021, skid off the road and fallen into River Birim on the Accra – Kumasi Highway.

Though no death was recorded, the two drivers of the trailer sustained minor injuries, and have sought healthcare at the Suhum government hospital.

In an interview with one of the drivers, Mr Philip Sowah, he revealed that the accident occured as a result of one trailer which was also en route from Kumasi to Accra lost control, and came into his lane with the suspision that the driver was dozing.

Mr Philip Sowah appealed to government to work on the bridge at Brimso, the place where the incident happened in the Abuakwa South municipality in the eastern region, because the bridge had no fence neither was there any sign post to alert them however, the bridge was covered with bush.

The representative of NADMO from the Abuakwa South municipality, Mr Alexander Sackey also appealed to the government to work on the bridge on that stretch of the road for accidents do happen at that particular place.

Managers of West Africa and Gulf Company Ltd, producers of Don Simon are now trying to offload the consignment into another truck meanwhile Kyebi MTTD has towed the neck of the trailer to Kyebi.
