Contrary to the general notion that a majority of our water bodies in Ghana are polluted, the eastern regional manager for Water Resources commission in Ghana, Dr Ronald Abrahams has refuted that speculations.
According to the regional manager, only 17% of our water bodies are either destroyed or polluted but the remaining 83% are clean and safe for use.
He made this revelation in a phone interview on Radio 1 (100.7fm) on Tuesday 23rd March 2021 when discussing the value for water in Ghana, a day after the world Water Day.
“Generally, not all our water bodies are destroyed. So we should disambiguate the minds of people that all our water bodies are destroyed because we are not taking care of them. We are taking care of them. I can say approximately only 17% are polluted and the remaining 83% are clean and safe for use. We have more than enough resources so it is not true that all our water bodies are destroyed.” – Dr Ronald Abrahams said.
