The Current State Of The $84m Pokuase Interchange Project Which Comes Close To Completion.

The Pokuase Interchange is a four-tier interchange situated at Pokuase Junction. It lies on the Nsawam Road and connects the Nsawam Road to the George Walker Bush.

Work on the $84m Interchange at the ACP Junction in the Ga North Municipality is progressing at a faster pace with all the major works almost completed.

According to the Resident Engineer, Kwabena Bempong, who disclosed this in an interview said the work is at 95 percent complete with all the ancillary works almost finished.

Mr Bempong said, the bridges connecting Accra to Kwabenya, Awoshie, Kumasi, and Pokuase is completely done and the road is opened to traffic.

However, Mr Bempong disclosed that the project which was originally scheduled for completion in March, would now be ready by the end of April.

This was after the government granted a four-day extension request by the contractor due to the outbreak of COVID-19, stressing that by that time the substantial work on the project would have been completed.

Meanwhile, the road markings and street lights had been provided on the opened sections of the road.

Also, advanced directional road signs have been fixed on the road to provide directions to drivers and pedestrians.

According to Mr Bempong, the National Road Safety Authority have been reached out to to provide road users sensitisations on the projects.

He confirmed that the 12km town roads such as Pokuase and Ayawaso is almost completed too.

The Pokuase Interchange Project started in July 2018 after a groundbreaking ceremony was performed for the commencement .

The project is funded by the African Development Bank and Government of Ghana and is expected to be completed by the end of April 2021.
