Ghana Will Soon Install Street Cameras To Monitor Reckless Driving – Transport Minister Hints

As part of efforts to mitigate and control the recent road crashes in the country, the transport minister, Hon. Kwaku Ofori Asiamah hints of government’s intention to soon install street cameras to monitor reckless drivers especially on the highways.

The hardworking minister who could not fathom why there is still an increase in road crashes though all efforts needed to curtail this menace have been implored.

In a studio interview with Obido Nana Gyasi of Radio 1 100.7fm, the able minister, Hon. Kwaku Ofori Asiamah hinted that all crashes which are as results of drivers recklessness would be addressed soon.

“Very soon, MTTD will install street cameras on our streets to monitor reckless drivers. So if you do reckless overtaking, the next day you’ll see us in your house with your bill for the reckless driving. We’ll have a central point and monitor it” – Hon. Ofori Asiamah hints.

He again used the opportunity to advise drivers to obey the road traffics regulations and help reduce and stop preventable crashes on our roads.

Hon. Kwaku Ofori Asiamah who happens to be the 4th minister for the ministry after its creation is serving his second term in the same office and advised that drivers manage the current state of our road networks though government is tirelessly working to fix all roads for which reason H.E. Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo declares 2021 as year of road.

“Fixing the road has to go through a process so now that it’s not fixed let’s manage what we have and I’m sure our president H.E. Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo is working to fix all deplorable ones. You know it will take some 2-4 years to fix the road so let’s manage what we have and believe the president will fix the road.” – Hon. Ofori Asiamah advised.
