The National Chairman for NDC, Samuel Ofosu Ampofo has revealed that the Jean Mensah led Electoral Commission, which happens to be a civil office is now a war zone.
According to him, the chairperson of the Ghana’s electoral commission which has an oversight responsibility on Ghana elections has been militarized.
Speaking on the Gumbe Show yesterday, the outspoken chairman for NDC, said when they used to walk freely to IPAC meetings under Afari Gyan, same cannot be said now under the tenure of Jean Mensah.
This statement came as a response to EC’s involvement in election security.

“Jean Mensah can not sit anywhere and say electoral security is not her responsibility because she captures security in her budgets. Do you know that the electoral commission office has been militarised? A civil office where we could walk there freely under the tenure of Afari Gyan is now a war zone. We can’t even have a free IPAC meeting. What has happened to us and what has changed? So election security management is part of the electoral commission’s responsibility that is why it is in their mandate to organise training programs for the security men to be deployed on the election day to understand what they would do on that day.” – Ofosu Ampofo said.
Chairman Ofosu Ampofo added that the Jean Mensah led Electoral commission cannot pride themselves for conducting the best, free and fair election when there are 16 cases pending in the court of law and 8 lives lost.
