My Residents Now Using Polythene Bags & Bushes For Defecation – Assemblyman Calls For Help

The assembly member for Nsutam – Nsuapemso electoral area in the fanteakwa south district in the eastern region, Hon. Alexander Boakye together with a couple of residents of Nsutam have disclosed that residents of the electoral area resort to using polythene bags and bushes when attending to nature’s call.

Speaking to the media, the residents of Nsutam cried foul on the absence of at least a single public toilet in the fast growing community in the eastern region despite it’s fast development.

They revealed that the situation is getting worse as they wake up to find faeces wrapped in polythene bags on the outside or in their homes. They therefore called on government, Non Governmental Organisations (NGOs), as well as well meaning individuals near and far, home and abroad to quickly come to their aid in building public toilet.

Not only are they pleading for toilet but also seeking support for potable water too.

The Assembly member for Nsutam-Nsuapemso Electoral area, Hon. Alexander Boakye took turn and also lamented on how the residents are frequenting bushes and using polythene bags as well as gutters as their toilets. He could not fathom why a community of about 5,000 population, a community with lorry station, sited on a major road and fast developing have no option than to use bushes, polythene bags and gutters for easing themselves.

He appealed to government, other well meaning citizens of the land as well as NGO’s to come to their aid.

Let’s help eradicate open defecation as it will help decrease communicable diseases in the area.
