Editor-in-Chief of the Insight newspaper, Kwesi Pratt has fired salvoes at those claiming the anti-LGBTQ+ bill is a violation of fundamental human rights of homosexuals.

The bill, which has been proposed by some Members of Parliament, has been disputed by some scholars, lawyers and Professors in the country.

The opposing group comprising lawyer Akoto Ampaw; author, scholar and former Director of the UN Economic Commission for Africa; the Dean of the University of Ghana (Legon) School of Law, Prof. Raymond Atuguba; the Dean of the University of Ghana School of Information and Communication Studies, Prof. Audrey Gadzekpo and the former Chief Executive Officer of erstwhile Ghana at fifty Secretariat, Dr. Charles Wereko Brobbey among others argue that the bill – Promotion of Proper Human Sexual Rights and Ghanaian Family Values Bill — when passed into law, would erode fundamental human rights provision in the 1992 constitution.

But to Kwesi Pratt, the ”human rights” argument by the group is untenable.

Speaking to host Kwami Sefa Kayi on Peace FM’s ”Kokrokoo”, he contended; ”If 1-year child develops attraction for his mother and wants to marry her should be allowed to marry his mother. Why should we stop him because it’s his right? That’s how he feels; he feels like marrying a 60-year old woman. If that’s the issue, then we should remove the marriage limitation.””In our laws, if yo’re married by ordinance and you decide to marry another woman in addition, you will end up in jail. Why? Why are we not talking about right here too? Is this not also a right? So, if you want to marry 100 women, we should allow you to marry the 100. What is the problem?”, he added.
