Broadcaster and host of Ghana’s number 1 morning show ”Kokrokoo” on Peace FM, Kwami Sefa Kayi has advised the youth not to abuse and be abused by social media.
Affectionately called ‘Chairman General’, Kwami Sefa Kayi educated the youth on the impact of social media during a graduation ceremony at the University of Professional Studies, Accra (UPSA).
Delivering a speech as the Guest Speaker at the UPSA 13th congregation ceremony, the celebrated journalist urged the graduates to use social media wisely as a tool to open better opportunities for themselves.
”What do you use your internet for? What do you use social media for? Is social media a tool for sensationalism for you? Is it a tool for excitement for you? Is it a tool that you’re going to do to research, to build yourself, to improve yourself, to acquire more knowledge than what you have today?”, he asked.

He cautioned them against using the internet to do things that will put them into disrepute and jeopardize their future.
”As the saying, the internet never forgets. The internet is good but it also has its dangerous sides. I entreat all of you today to begin to look or to rethink your relationship with social media, with the internet…it will always serve as a ready tool or a ready source of information. Becareful what you put there; becareful what you look out for there. Becareful what you find there!”
Mr. Sefa Kayi also presented the realities of life to the graduates as some may find jobs and others won’t, challenging them to be resolute and persevere to become successful leaders.
He charged them to work hard saying ”I still remember what my salary was 25 years ago. It’s equivalent of 20 cedis today. At the time, it wasn’t much. It still is not much but we began from somewhere. So, do not despise small beginnings. Challenge yourself; accept whatever situation you find yourself in but don’t accept to remain there. Improve upon it, move beyond it and once you’re at it, remember, things don’t happen overnight”.
