Former Deputy Communications Minister in the Mahama administration, Felix Kwakye Ofosu, has revealed half a dozen NDC MPS have been hauled before investigative bodies by the government.

His revelations come on the heels of former Deputy Finance Minister, Cassiel Ato Forson, who is being dragged to court on the charge of causing a €2.3 million loss to the state.

This charge relates to the procurement of ambulances for the country which the Attorney General says were unfit for purpose.

Two other accused persons – a former Chief Director at the Ministry of Health, Sylvester Anemana, and a businessman Richard Jakpa – also pleaded not guilty.

Speaking on Upfront with Raymond Acquah, Felix Kwakye Ofosu said this is ploy to intimidate the opposition party.

“It convinced me that what we have feared is actually the case…they have not been thorough, not been diligent, they don’t know what they are talking about and they have been compelled to do this as part of a grand scheme to intimidate NDC operatives, especially MPs who have kicked against the obnoxious e-levy.”

“Indeed, it might interest viewers to note that since November 26 when the very bad 2022 budget statement was thrown out, not less than half a dozen NDC MPs have been arraigned before all manner of investigative committees; some of whom have been charged on very frivolous premise,” he revealed.

“Even the former Deputy Attorney General, Dominic Ayine, is being investigated over the Zuarungu market…I mean, bizarre and inexplicable. The Minority Leader himself, John Jinapor, our MP for Akwatia, Ato Forson and a host of others. These are deliberate ploys.”

Meanwhile, he said President Akufo-Addo, since assumption of office, has never shown any interest in fighting corruption in the country.

Citing a number of corruption cases such as the PPA scandal, the Australian visa scandal among others, which have not been prosecuted, Kwakye Ofosu said the President has refused to hold any member of his administration to account.

“How is it that A.B. Agyenim Agyei, the former PPA boss who was caught on tape engaging in acts bordering on criminality, why is it that the law is respecting him? Why is the law respecting the BOST Movenpina scandal perpetrators? Why is the law respecting the NYA former director and his deputies who breached our procurement laws with impunity?

Why has President Akufo-Addo not prosecuted Boakye Agyarko for the financial loss he caused in the matter of GPGC? So President Akufo-Addo has never been interested in fighting corruption. He has never believed in the rule of law,” he said.
