Kantoni Musa, who is affectionately called Dr YNORT, has waded into the blame game of infertility among couples.

According to him, husbands are often too quick to fault their wives of their inability to produce children after couple of years in marriage.

While discussing Infertility on Me ne wo apomuden on Radio 1, 100.7fm, Dr YNORT enumerated the various causes as well as risk factors including threats to infertility both in men and women.

During the discussion he listed some types of infertility, which are; primary and secondary stage.
According to him, primary stage is when a pregnancy has never been achieved by a person and the secondary stage is when at least one prior pregnancy has been achieved. As discussion continued, he attributed the infertility to:

  1. Ovulation problems
  2. Poor sperm quality
  3. Fallopian tube problems
  4. Obesity
  5. Abnormal menstrual cycle.

He also enumerated ways to avoid infertility:

  1. Avoid abortion
  2. Exercising your body
  3. Eating well.

He ended his submission with the advice that, “Men also have problems and these are shown in their hormonal changes and irregular loss of their hairs as well as having premature ejaculation”

That means men can also be blamed when fertility is either delayed or denied.

In general, infertility is when you are not able to get pregnant after one year of unprotected sexual intercourse.
