A member of the government’s communication team Ofosu-Antwi Prince has waded into the controversies surrounding the call on the Akufo – Addo led NPP government to call on IMF to arrest the financial crises in the country.

According to him, going to IMF is not an option today because Ghana cannot afford to trade it’s freedom with some strict conditionalities.

Speaking on the Issues on Radio 1 100.7fm, Ofosu-Antwi Prince who is affectionately known in the political phase as Daakye Nti revealed that he is confident the Akufo-Addo – Bawumia led NPP would work around the table to help fix the economy.

“Going to IMF is not an option for Ghana today. Cast your mind back to the days where former president Mahama went to IMF and how the youth of this country suffered.” – Daakye Nti stressed.

While the minority in Parliament and NDC are chastising the ruling government on hardships and attributing to bad ggovernance, Ofosu-Antwi Prince differs and expresses confidently that even as the president laid down factors to mitigate the effects of the deadly coronavirus pandemic that plagued the nation, no one can take away its adverse effects on Ghana economy.

He maintained that the Russia – Ukraine conflicts is also a contributing factor of the purported hardship in Ghana.

He then appealed to the audience and listeners to consider and approve the E-levy which would help ease some stresses on the economy.
