The literacy Promotion Manager of the Ghana Book Development Council (GBDC), Daniel Ofosu Asamoah revealed that Ghana has been named to host the 2023 World Book and Copyright Day which will be held in Accra.

The designation is meant to promote the local book industry, libraries, books, reading, awareness of literacy, and a lively book culture as well as to promote tourism, and draw national and international attention to the literary heritage of the city and nation.

The World Book and Copyright Day is an important day celebrated by member states of the United Nations (UN) organised by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation (UNESCO), every year, to promote reading, publishing and copyright.

According to him, Ghana hosting the world book capital in 2023 will help people understand the benefits of reading especially students by changing their mindsets.
