The Young African Women Congress has kickstarted in the Kenya capital, Nairobi, on Monday, 23rd May 2022.
The conference under the theme: “Network for Empowerment: Refuelling A Continent On The Rise” seeks to enlighten delegates on the many possibilities that women networks could engineer.
The conference also seeks to build a special connection that will help women, especially young African women, realize their full potential in contributing to the transformational journey of the continent.
In a speech delivered at the conference by the Executive Director of Exla Group And Council Chair of YAWC, Mr. Daniel Osei Tuffour, he noted that “YAWC embodies the ideas and aspirations of women from different backgrounds”.

He believed an empowerment conversation that does not consider “network to empower” may not succeed, adding “that’s why we acknowledge that empowerment is not a destination but a journey, with detours that depend on each woman’s circumstances and opportunities”.
“Through networking, we are able to identify the right tools and framework that would secure a friendlier environment for women to thrive based on their individual circumstances,” he further said.
