Fanteakwa South Flood: We Have Provided Temporal Accommodation For The Displaced – DCE

The District Chief Executive for Fanteakea South in the Eastern Region, Hon. Ernest Ofosu has revealed his plans for the victims of the June 30 flood in his district.

According to him, together with the Assembly Member for Nsutam – Nsuapemso electoral area, Hon. Alexander Boakye and Fanteakwa south NADMO, they have provided interim accommodation for the displaced.

He added that, the team will again visit them tomorrow and find some lasting solutions to what has happened.

He disclosed this in a phone interview with Nana Gyasi on Bekyerem, a political show on Radio 1 100.7fm and expressed his deepest condolences to the victims especially to the Nsuapemso family that lost their relatives.

“In the interim, together with the Assembly Member and Fanteakwa South NADMO, we have secured temporal accommodation for those displaced. We will go and visit them tomorrow and find the way forward. However, let me express my condolences to them all especially to the families that lost their children. It’s really sad though” – Hon. Ernest Ofosu said.

In Nsutam, about 30 households were displaced while a lot of properties got damaged.

Four out of 5 communities in Nsutam got affected. Many were displaced while some properties were lost.

The Birim River that lies between Osino and Dwenase overflowed and blocked the Osino Hemang route. Road users had no option than to use Abompe through Adasawase, Anyinam road. The fare also saw increment from ¢5.40 to ¢20.00.

At Nsuapemso, two siblings got drowned when going for their usual fishing.

The rain started in the evening around 4pm and stopped around 9pm but continued in the night till the next morning.
