Hon. Samuel Ofosu Ampofo, Chairman for the National Democratic Congress, NDC, has revealed that Ghanaians are being overtaxed under the Akufo-Addo led NPP administration and has revealed that if the citizenry are silent and condoning, there would be a time they cannot bear it anymore and that time is very close.
While some taxes are justifiable, he believes there are some unjustifiable and that government can relook at the build up of these taxes to reduce the burden on Ghanaians.
“If the government had done things properly, we wouldn’t be here. They seem not to have control over fuel price. Government must seat up and analyze the build up of fuel price. There will be a time Ghanaians cannot contain this situation and we are almost getting there. Most of the taxes on fuel can be scrapped. so they must sit up” – Hon. Samuel Ofosu Ampofo
He added that at a time Ghanaians are in dire hardships, government must not overburden the citizens with taxes. Hon Samuel Ofosu Ampofo said the government can scrap covid levy on fuel, scrap TOR recovery levy and a host of them.

“You see, some taxes are not justifiable. Now there s no justification in paying covid tax on fuel, paying TOR recovery levy etc. Government must go through the build up of fuel price and do something about it even though there are some he cannot touch”
