Ghana U17 women’s team banned by FIFA over age-cheating

As a result of their involvement in age fraud, the Ghanaian U-17 Women’s National Team will be unable to compete in the next two African Qualifiers for FIFA U17 Women.
The team was also fined $100,000 for two Ghanaian players who lied about their age.

FIFA’s judgment is the result of a protest from Morocco alleging that Nancy Amoh and Rasheeda Shahadu lied about their birth dates and are older than the age of 17.

Nancy Amoh and Rasheeda Shahadu, both over the legal drinking age of 17, were disqualified from the qualifiers for the World Cup because of their actions on behalf of Black Maiden.

Both players took part in Ghana’s 2-0 victory over Morocco at the Accra Sports Stadium.

The Ghana Football Association was given the opportunity to respond to the claims, but they did not.

Nancy Amoh and Stella Nyamekye scored in the first leg in Accra, but Morocco won 2-0 in the second leg in Rabat to require penalties, which the latter won 4-2 to qualify for this year’s FIFA U17 Women’s World Cup, which will be held in India this summer.

With a 4-2 penalty shootout loss to Morocco after the North Africans had recovered a 2-0 scoreline in ordinary time, Ghana has already been eliminated from this year’s World Cup.
