Somanya dumsor: Man charges android phones for ₵5 and analogue ₵3

A businessman in the Eastern Region’s Somanya District claims to be taking advantage of the area’s inconsistent power supply from the Electricity Company Ghana.
Using a generator in the lack of national grid electricity, the entrepreneur charges phones as a side business.

GH5 for android phones and 3 cedi for analogue phones is what Innocent Tawiah charges for his services.

Prior to this, the national grid had been turned off for both towns, including Somanya and Kpong, after an alleged gunfight broke out at Nuaso, according to local people.

As far as he knew, the store was set up only to sell phone components. However, he now has another reason to use the store as a result of the blackout.

Mr. Tawiah revealed to JoyNews’ Manuel Koranteng on Monday that he is not the only one in the phone charging industry.

“Those who live in the area come here to visit. Other people’s phones may be charged in locations where generators are available, he said.

However, despite the fact that the power went off on Wednesday, he resumed charging phones on Sunday, according to him.

In spite of making a livelihood from his company, he hopes to restore power so that the pupils may better study for the Basic Education Certificate Examination. (BECE)
