Ghana’s first president, Dr. Kwame Nkrumah’s bodyguard, Mr. Christian Blukoo, disclosed in a program with Joy Prime TV called “THE GUARD” that he earned just 47ghc monthly as pension.
According to Mr. Christain Blukoo, he was one of Dr. Kwame Nkrumah’s chief bodyguards and spent most of his working life in the Christiansburg Castle.

He described how Dr. Nkrumah was deposed in 1966 by the National Liberation Council and how he had survived five attempts on his life.

Due to the fact that he and the other guards of Christiansburg Castle were dismissed after Nkrumah’s takeover, he now supports his family via farming.

In an emotive post, blind 85-year-old Mr. Christian Blukoo stated that he lives on a meager 47 per month from his pension allowance, which is often not even given on time.

He said;

“Because the money is small, I go to the bank every three months. Even that does not come regularly,”

“Up to now…Ghana! They took my pictures and particulars but I haven’t gotten anything. They said they will send it to my phone but up to now [nothing has come]. So, I don’t want anybody to suffer for me,”

Mr. Blukoo is dissatisfied, he says, since the government has not considered raising his pension.
