Queen Elizabeth II was an aura of peace, who wore tranquility and bore exemplary leadership, Majority Leader, Osei Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu has said.
The British Queen, born Elizabeth Alexandra Mary Windsor, passed on to eternity late Thursday at age 96, having reigned for seven decades.
In a eulogy, Mr. Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu, who is also the Vice Chairman of the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association (CPA), said the queen also “engendered deference” which combined to hold the Commonwealth of Nations together.
According to the Majority Leader, she did not only hold high the flag of Britain and the United Kingdom but also “left indelible footprint” in Ghana when she came to the country in 1961.

“The London Bridge is down; Queen Elizabeth II is gone,” he asserted and added that the Commonwealth Empire “certainly is left mourning and wavering.”
He noted that the queen also held firmly the unity of the Commonwealth comprising 56 countries, 180 parliaments, and over 17,000 parliamentarians.
For him, the queen, the longest monarch to have reigned, has seen it all in the UK, superintending over 15 Prime Ministers and 16 tenures from Winston Churchill, through the eventful eras of Edward Heath, Margaret Thatcher, John Major, Tony Blair, David Cameron, Boris Johnson and now Liz Truss.
She also presided over the independence of most of the Commonwealth countries beginning from the mid-1950s, he added.
The Majority Leader said the CPA has lasted for 110 years.
“It is the reason why London, the United Kingdom, in spite of her size continues to be the capital of the world,” he pinned, intimating, “her transition, unquestionably, marks the end of an era.”
He added, “One can only hope that her successor, King Charles III will be able to keep the Commonwealth together by industry and tactical diplomacy.”
“May God, her Creator, give Queen Elizabeth II eternal rest whilst providing comfort to the family and sustaining the bond within the Commonwealth,” Mr. Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu said, and bade, “Fare Thee well Quintuply Quintessential Queen!!”
