The Minority in Parliament is demanding immediate probe into reports government is training thugs and mercenaries at the Jubilee house ahead of the 2024 elections.

The allegation first came from US-based Ghanaian media personality Kelvin Tailor who mentioned names of individuals involved at the presidency.

Addressing the media in parliament, Minority Spokesperson on Security, James Agalga argued some happenings in the security set up leaves much to be desired and lends credence to claims of Kelvin Tailor.

The Builsa North MP called for a probe into the claim to allay fears of the public.

But the Minister of Defence, Dominic Nitiwul and Interior Minister, Ambrose Dery swiftly responded to the allegation by refuting the claims of the minority.

According to Nitiwul, entertaining thugs at the Presidency is a security risk government will not even think about taking regardless of any political gain there might be.

He disclosed that there is an enhanced security at the Presidency given the times the country finds itself in but that has nothing to do with training of thugs, assuring President Akufo-Addo will not do anything to jeopardize the security of the country.

Ambrose Dery on his part vehemently denied such allegations explaining the gentleman whose name was mentioned by Kelvin Tailor is a police officer deployed to the presidency as part of security detail.

Ambrose Dery assured, President Akufo-Addo will hand over power in 2025 no matter which party wins the elections.
