Modernizing highlife doesn’t mean we should forget its indigenous elements – Kwaisey Pee

Highlife artist Kwasi Poku Addae known well as Kwaisey Pee has shared his opinion on the recent state of the highlife genre in the country.
Speaking about the current highlife genre, Kwaisey Pee stated that the new crop of artists doing highlife music now has modernized the genre.

“Highlife songs are still in the system just that the new crop of musicians have modernized it and they want to do it in a different way,” Kwaisey Pee told Amansan Krakye

The “Akono Akono” hitmaker stated that it’s good for the new crop of musicians to modernize Highlife music but they shouldn’t forget about the indigenous elements in the genre.

“I mean I think it’s all good but we shouldn’t forget about our indigenous Highlife elements that make our songs unique from any other genre,” he said in an interview on Kastle FM.
