Transport operators nationwide are yet to comply with the directive issued by the road transport association, calling for a 10 percent reduction in fares.

Despite the association’s statement on Monday, May 15, 2023, which instructed its members to implement the fare reduction starting from Wednesday, May 17, drivers and conductors are disregarding the directive.

Radio1 News conducted checks at various lorry terminals and found that drivers and conductors are not adhering to the directive.

Speaking on the above on Radio1 Morning Show ‘Oman Yi Mu Nsem’, the eastern Regional youth organizer for the Convention People’s Party (CPP) Kwesi Aboagye has asked transport owners not to dare reduce their fares.

According to Kwesi Aboagye, it is only a sick-minded person that will reduce the fare under unbearable driver conditions.

“It’s only a half think driver who would take the government seriously to reduce his transport fares there are poor roads everywhere and the government is doing nothing about it,” he stated.

“Until these poor roads are fixed no one should dare reduce transport fares,” he fumed.
