Aframomum, also known as ‘Fom Wisa’, ‘Grains of Paradise’, or Alligator Pepper is a species in the ginger family, Zingiberaceae, and closely related to cardamom.

Mr Charles Agyakwa a Conservation and Education Officer of A Rocha Ghana has made some intriguing revelations on the need to get into Afromomum farming.

Charles speaking on Radio 1’s environmental show, ‘Our Land Our Future’ with Michael Agyapong Agyapa said planting of Afromomum is one easiest way to get rich and to get rid of Galamsey.

“Afromomum doesn’t need any fertilizer to grow and on one plant you can still harvest it in the next 6 months’ time unlike Galamsey that after mining you can’t be mined on the same land again,” he said.
