The Ghana Education Service established Adjena Senior High Technical School region in 1979 as an experimental Junior Secondary School (JSS) on the grounds of the then Adjena United Middle School.

In September 1984, the school was upgraded to a full-fledged secondary technical school.

However, the school has received no major infrastructure upgrades since its inception.

The implementation of the Free Senior High School Policy, which has resulted in an exponential increase in student population, has exacerbated the school’s situation.

As students learn under pavilions, the school faces severe classroom congestion. Dormitory housing for students is also insufficient due to a lack of student beds.

Due to a lack of desks, students are forced to sit in groups of threes and fours per dual desk.

There is no computer lab at the school. For the approximately 2000 students, there is only one operational desktop computer for ICT practicals.

Students use a deplorable open pit toilet later in the day, endangering their health and lives.

The lack of a fence wall around the school makes it vulnerable to intrusion, threatening student safety at night.

Furthermore, some obstinate students take advantage of the opportunity to sneak out and commit various offenses.

Traditional rulers of the Adjena-Tafoman traditional area are dissatisfied with the government’s neglect of the school and have appealed to the Ministry of Education to assist the school in addressing the numerous challenges it faces in order to improve quality education.

According to Thomas Ampem Nyarko, Member of Parliament for Asuogyaman, apart from the facilities provided in the school by the Atta Mills/John Mahama-led NDC government, not a single project has been added in the seven years of the Akufo Addo-led NPP government, despite the introduction of Free Senior High School, which has increased student population.

When he was District Chief Executive for Asuogyaman, he built additional classrooms, a one-story boys dormitory block, and other facilities.

He assured the people that the next NDC government would continue to expand infrastructure facilities in schools in order to alleviate current challenges.

On Monday, May 29, 2023, the MP broke ground for the construction of a three-unit chamber and hall self-contained teachers bungalow for the school.

The facilities will house three additional teachers in addition to the Headmistress, who is currently the only teacher who stays on campus.
