E/R: 54-yr-old jailed four years for causing harm to his ex

The Asamankese Circuit Court Presided over by His Honour Abass Abubakari Adams has sentenced a 54-year-old farmer, Kofi Amoah, to four years imprisonment in hard Labour for causing harm to his former wife at Asene.
Kofi Amoah, the accused person was also fined ¢5,000.00 as compensation to the victim contrary to section 69 of the Criminal Offences Act 29/60.
Detective Chief Inspector Samuel Owusu said the accused was in a love relationship with Hagar Amponsah Darkwah who is also a farmer for two years. Still, there was suspicion by the accused that the victim was in a relationship with another man which brought misunderstanding.
The Prosecution statement said the victim later moved from the accused person’s house due to the continued misunderstanding.

The accused person alleged later that the victim took his ¢500.00 away so he reported to the Asene Police to arrest her.
On 25/04/2023, both the accused person and the victim clashed at their cassava farm in Asene area where Kofi Amoah was not happy to see his former wife at his farm so he angrily pulled out a machete and attacked the victim and caused multiple wounds on both hands of the victim.
After shouting for help, the victim got Support from another farmer passing by and was rushed to Oda Government Hospital for treatment but was later referred to Koforidua Saint Joseph Hospital.
Kofi Amoah who ran away tried to travel to Elubo but upon the proactiveness of the Police, he was arrested at Oda lorry station and later charged and sent to court for prosecution.
