Dr. Evans Ago Tetteh, the popular Ghanaian broadcaster Bridget Otoo’s husband, has accused the Ghana Police of harassing his wife during the well attended anti-government protest known as #OccupyJulorbiHouse.
Bridget Otoo, a broadcast journalist, accused members of the Ghana Police Service of abusing her and other protesters when they were demonstrating.
Tensions were high when the event happened at the Accra Regional Command.
Bridget Otoo could be heard harshly denouncing the police officers for their behavior in an audio tape obtained by GhanaWeb on Thursday during a Twitter chat discussion, even as they cocked their firearms in a tense standoff. “You are cocking your guns, you are cocking your guns! Try it!” Bridget Otoo exclaimed in the audio clip.

In a video, Bridget and other protesters can be seen being dragged into the police station’s grounds. She managed to flee, but not before her top was ripped.
Dr. Evans Ago Tetteh, Bridget Otoo’s visibly irritated husband, responded to the unpleasant situation by showing up at the site. He was recorded saying, “Let them kill her and let’s see. This is a foolish thing to do. I’ll show them I am a man. I am right here. Let any police officer come try me and let’s see.”
Reports that some protestors had been denied the chance to gather peacefully on September 21, 2023 came to light as the crisis developed.
Due to a court order prohibiting the planned protest, around 350 protesters, including organizers from the Democracy Hub group, are being detained by police for disobeying a police order.
