On September 19, 2023, Nana Appiah Mensah, the former CEO of the now-defunct Menzgold Ghana Limited, made his first appearance at the Accra High Court location.
His appearance comes after the Attorney General, Godfred Yeboah Dame, announced new accusations against him on August 30.
The CEO, often known as NAM 1, is charged with a total of 36 offenses while being accompanied by two people and a police officer, according to myjoyonline.com.
These accusations include aiding and abetting, deceiving under false pretenses, operating an unlicensed deposit-taking business, making unauthorized deposits, and money laundering, among others. This is a decrease from the original 61 accusations he was up against.

The Attorney General first took legal proceedings against Nana Appiah Mensah back in 2019.
He was charged with scamming many clients through his gold dealership business, resulting in enormous financial losses totaling millions of cedis.
Since the case’s beginning, there have been multiple adjournments, which culminated in the most recent filing of revised charges on Wednesday, August 30, 2023.
This action was taken in response to Mr. Appiah Mensah’s announcement that locked-up funds will be released to Menzgold customers in exchange for a verification fee of roughly GH650.
