Attorney Anthony Akoto Ampaw, Esq., has officially passed away.

The seasoned Ghanaian attorney and human rights advocate reportedly passed away today, October 20, 2023, at the University of Ghana Medical Centre (UGMC).

According to reports, since the beginning of 2023, attorney Ampaw has not been feeling well.

The Supreme Court’s legal defense of President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo’s victory in the 2020 election was led by Akoto Ampaw.
Following the president’s approval of the Office of Special Prosecutor Bill, the attorney was widely expected to be named the Special Prosecutor.

Mr. Ampaw, who has been known as “Che Che” since he was a student at the University of Ghana, was a member of the New Patriotic Party’s legal team for the 2013 election petition.

Akufo-Addo’s law firm, Akufo-Addo, Prempeh & Co., counts him as a partner.

Ampaw has a sterling reputation in the legal community, particularly for supporting just justice and human rights initiatives.He earned his LL.B. from the University of Ghana in 1973 as well as his B.L. from the Ghana School of Law in 1993.
