On October 31, 2023, an Accra High Court rendered a decision in the three-year divorce case of former Ghana international Asamoah Gyan.

In 2013, Gyan and Gifty were married. The court decided to dissolve their marriage and issued orders on who the couple’s three children’s fathers are.

Gyan had earlier contested his paternity, which prompted the court to order a DNA test, the results of which established that he was, in fact, the children’s father.

Regarding the paternity question, Dennis Law stated in their report: “At first, Asamoah Gyan had requested the annulment of their marriage and denied being the father of their three children. But in its ruling on October 31, 2023, the court determined that the three children are, in fact, Asamoah Gyan’s descendants.”

Additional directives concerning the maintenance of the children following the divorce stated that “Asamoah Gyan must give Gifty Gyan 25,000 Ghana cedis every month.”

“This stipend is allocated for the upbringing and welfare of the three children, excluding expenses such as school fees, medical and dental care, flight tickets, and various other childcare-related costs,” the legal firm stated.
