Mr. Atta Appiah Korang, the president of Save the Nation for Future Leaders, expressed strong views during an interview with Nana Kwabena Addo, the host of “Oman Mu Nsem” on Radio 1 100.7. He advocated a severe stance against those who harm the environment, asserting that anyone attempting to cause harm should be killed.

According to him, this extreme measure is necessary to protect the country, and he believes that all individuals with malicious intent must face such consequences.

Mr. Koran emphasized the vital role of the land in sustaining life and providing food and water essential for human existence. He condemned any organization, especially foreign entities, seeking to mine at Kakum National Park, considering it an act of sheer wickedness.

In his view, such organizations should not only be expelled from the country but also collapse, with their members facing execution by firing squad. He justified this stance by highlighting the irreplaceable value of Kakum National Park, which has been a part of the country for a significant period.

“We benefit a lot from the environment; we get food and water, of which we cannot live without them. So why would they request to mine at Kakum National Park? They are very wicked, and they should be killed by firing squad,” he passionately asserted.

Acknowledging the efforts of the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and the Minerals Commission, Mr. Koran praised them for standing firm in defense of the country. He suggested that stringent rules should be set by these agencies, specifying that anyone attempting to harm the environment should not only be killed but that their families should also face the same fate. He believed that this extreme consequence would instill fear and deter any potential environmental harm.

“Thanks to the EPA and Minerals Commission for standing firm for the country. The population is increasing, so we have to protect the environment. EPA and Minerals should set rules that anyone who attempts to harm the environment should be killed with their family. This will put fear in them. We need to protect the environment for the next generation,” he added.

Kakum National Park, situated in the coastal environs of the Central Region of Ghana, was established in 1992 and gazetted as a national park in the same year. Its uniqueness lies in being initiated by local people rather than the state department of wildlife. The park features a canopy walkway, one of only three locations in Africa, spanning 350 meters and connecting seven treetops, providing access to the forest.
