Countdown to the New Patriotic Party’s presidential election is on as the days go by; it’s left with four days for the showdown to happen.

Four candidates; Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, Assin Central lawmaker, Kennedy Agyapong, former Agric Minister, Dr. Owusu Afriyie-Akoto and Thomas Addai Nimoh have their fingers crossed in hope to lead the party into the 2024 elections.

On Saturday, November 4, over 200000 delegates of the New Patriotic Party will cast their votes to decide who becomes their flagbearer, however, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia and Kennedy Agyapong are said to the favorites.

With the party gearing up for the election over the weekend, the candidates are advised to be decorous in their campaigns and the delegates urged to vote for the right candidate.

Nonetheless the question remains, who will become NPP flagbearer?

There are several tentative conclusions but to seasoned journalist, Kwesi Pratt Jnr., the former President John Mahama is seemingly pointing the NPP to who should compete him in next year’s general elections.

Kwesi Pratt noted on Peace FM’s morning show “Kokrokoo”, that the former President has turned into a Prophet, explaining he has become a reference point for the members of the New Patriotic Party whenever they are talking about their impending election.

He stated that they refer to Mr. Mahama making a remark that tells who he believes is the right person to lead the NPP and wondered since when did the NPP rely on Mahama to make a decision.

“Mahama has now turned into a Prophet because what we hear, going into the election, is that Mahama even said we should vote for that candidate and it is when we vote for the person that our party will be strong”, he said and asked; “Isn’t it strange that he is the one directing you to who you should vote for and come to compete him?”
