A parliamentary aspirant of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Fanteakwa South Constituency, Hon. Duke Ofori Atta, has presented some health equipment to the Eastern region’s Fanteakwa South District Health Directorate.

The items included beds, wheelchairs, HB meters, OPD chairs, weighing cards, BP apparatus, etc.

Duke Ofori Atta emphasized that the government is dedicated to the well-being of all citizens, ensuring that the commitment to universal health coverage goes beyond mere words and is actively implemented. The Agenda 111 initiative, aiming to establish hospitals in every district, reflects this dedication.

According to him, “The NPP government not only pledged but has already taken steps to fulfill the promise of providing health facilities through Agenda 111. As someone working closely with the government, I exerted considerable effort to bring essential equipment to the district and more, contributing to the overall health improvement of the district and the entire country. Prioritizing good health is a key focus for us, and with divine intervention, we anticipate completing 50 hospitals nationwide next year.”

“The current MP has done his part; it’s now time to change over. We also want to help the district. I will be working on education; I will help anyone willing to further his or her education, and I will also help with the health facilities, just like I have started,” Hon. Duke added.

In a conversation with Madam Margaret Nyarko, the District Health Director for Fanteakwa South, she elaborated on the substantial impact of the donation and expressed gratitude on behalf of the staff.

Madam Margaret Nyarko highlighted how this generous contribution would significantly benefit their operations and underscored the team’s appreciation for the support received.

“We are very happy about this; he gave us a vital science monitor, of which there is none in the whole district… And looking at where the hospital is situated, an accident happens a lot on this stretch, and most of them are rushed here, so getting all these equipments is going to help a lot, which will help manage emergencies. Thank you, Hon Duke and anyone supporting us for not forgetting us in this project And we are pleading with the government to post nurses here,” she emphasized.

Mr. Ernest Ofosu, the District Chief Executive of Fanteakwa South, was in attendance and shared insights into the existing healthcare infrastructure within the district. He also acknowledged the invaluable assistance received from various individuals in supporting the health initiatives in the region.

“There are five health centers in the district; I can boldly say we are okay with that, we have no problem with health. Thanks to all the individuals helping the district. Just recently someone helped with an ambulance and it has helped us, also with the case where nurses are leaving the country, the nurses leaving to find work is reducing the nurse population in the country which is not bad because it creates room for the incoming but the problem here is most of them have experience which means the country is losing experienced nurses which will affect the country but there some experienced nurses in the country” he explained.

The Agenda 111 project is an expansive initiative that includes the construction of 101 district hospitals in underserved regions, two psychiatric hospitals, seven regional hospitals, and the rehabilitation of Accra Psychiatric hospital and to create thousands of job opportunities.
