On December 30, 2023, journalists in the eastern region aimed to enhance their well-being for 2024 by organizing a health walk in Koforidua. The event, supported by the telecommunications giant MTN Ghana, involved a stroll from the newly commissioned Koforidua sports stadium through the town’s streets, concluding at the Methodist Church’s astroturf.

The participants then engaged in an invigorating aerobic session led by fitness instructor Mr. Siaw Ankomah, followed by a football match between media personnel and MTN. This initiative, spearheaded by senior journalists and backed by MTN Ghana, aimed to strengthen the collaborative relationship between the media and the telecom giant. Ransford Gyan, the Area Sales Manager for the Eastern, Volta, and Oti regions, expressed the purpose of deepening mutual cooperation.

“In 2024, we aim to strengthen our ties with media personnel through innovative activities, forums, and increased media engagement to effectively showcase our positive initiatives to society,” he said.

Emphasizing the importance of media practitioners’ well-being, Mr. Ransford Gyan highlighted the need for health-focused journalism as we enter the new year. Stressing the significance of journalists’ health, he urged them to participate in regular exercise for longevity and a positive impact on their work.
