Five SHSs in Krobo District without water as GWCL’s disconnection bites

Five schools in the Krobo District of the Ghana Water Company Limited which covers Asuogyaman, Yilo Krobo and Lower Manya Krobo have still not been reconnected to the services of the service provider since the exercise was undertaken in November, 2023.
Six schools including the Yilo Krobo SHS, Krobo Girls SHS, Anum Presby SHS, Anum Presby Vocational Institute, Boso Senior High Technical and the Akro Senior High Technical Schools were affected by the nationwide disconnection exercise undertaken by the GWCL of schools indebted to the Company with Krobo Girls’ Ghc590,000 being cleared by the Ghana Education Service.
Akro Senior High Technical school is also indebted to GWCL to the tune of Ghc700,000.
Students are therefore forced to queue for long periods to access boreholes on campus for their drinking, cooking, cleaning, washing, and other activities.

They complain that the situation is having adverse effects on their studies and are therefore appealing for government’s intervention.
