In a commendable effort to enhance public health and combat mosquito-borne diseases, the Ghana Health Service (GHS) in the Eastern Region has announced a significant initiative.
Starting from February 22nd to February 26th, the GHS will be providing free mosquito nets to residents through a registration process.
This initiative aims to protect communities from malaria, a prevalent and potentially deadly disease transmitted by mosquitoes.
To ensure that every household in the Eastern Region has access to free mosquito nets, the GHS has decided to carry out a house-to-house registration process.

This will help in the efficient distribution of nets, ensuring that they reach those who need them the most. Registration will also assist health authorities in planning and organizing the distribution process to make it as smooth and effective as possible.
Once the registration process is complete, the GHS will organize the distribution of free mosquito nets to registered households. The distribution will be carried out in a systematic manner, ensuring that no community is left out and that those at higher risk receive the necessary protection.
During the registration, individuals will be asked for basic information such as their name, address, and the number of people in their household. This information will be crucial for the GHS to estimate the number of mosquito nets needed for each community.
Why Mosquito Nets Matter:
Mosquitoes are pesky insects that cause annoying bites and pose a serious health risk by transmitting diseases like malaria. Malaria is a widespread concern in many parts of Ghana, and the use of mosquito nets has proven to be an effective method to prevent mosquito bites and reduce the risk of malaria transmission.
