Ace broadcaster and host of Ghana’s leading morning show “Kokrokoo” aired on Peace FM, Kwami Sefa Kayi, has expressed his opinion on the rejoinder by the members of the Majority Caucus regarding reports of a reshuffle in their leadership.

Kwami Sefa Kayi, affectionately called “Chairman General”, last Wednesday gave a hint on his show of a possible change in the majority leadership, naming the Member of Parliament for Effutu, Alexander Afenyo-Markin, as the new majority leader.

But the Majority Caucus, at a press conference yesterday, debunked the claims.

The First Deputy Speaker and Bekwai lawmaker, Joseph Osei Owusu, asserted that “the majority caucus has not made any changes in its leadership; the majority caucus has not contemplated making any changes to its leadership, and we will tell the world and Ghana to ignore any such publication.”

He added, “We want to assure you that we have confidence in the leadership and the status quo shall remain; we are aware that upon the nomination of one of the Deputy Whips as a minister, a replacement will be made, that replacement will be made by the caucus when we have the opportunity and the time to consider the appropriate replacement; this is all the information we have to share.”

Commenting on the issue, Mr. Sefa Kayi assumed a misunderstanding between the leadership of the New Patriotic Party and the Majority Caucus, which is why the Majority would opt for a press conference to settle what they feel is misleading information for the public.

To the Chairman General, the majority’s reaction and medium for responding to the reshuffle show “there is a crack, a big crack” in the New Patriotic Party.

“Lack of communication shows cracks,”  he iterated.

The shrewd presenter emphasized, “For Joe Osei Owusu to come forward and lead a press conference and to debunk…If there were no conflicts, there would have been easier channels of communication.”

“Joe Osei Owusu is not a small boy. First Deputy Speaker, solid guy!” he exclaimed.
