Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Augustus Nkrumah , the investigator in the ongoing murder case of J.B Danquah-Adu, former MP for Abuakwa North has described the first accused Daniel Asiedu, as a ‘terrible guy ‘ who is capable of killing J.B. Danquah-Adu.

He made the comment while undergoing a further cross-examination session from the Defence lawyer Yaw Dankwah at the High Court in Accra.

ASP Augustus Nkrumah while insisting that Daniel Asiedu known as Sexy Dondon killed the late MP, explained that, the accused himself confessed committing the crime . He noted that the accused at his own will demonstrated to the investigation team how he perpetuated the crime, adding that the accused also begged for forgiveness for what he had done.

The investigator who is also the 8th Prosecution witness further stated that, sexy Dondon admitted owning material exhibits that were found both at the Shiashie residence of the deceased and his personal residence at Agbogbloshie.

The investigator also informed the court presided over by Justice Lydia Osei-Marfo that, the accused after committing the crime left his T. Shirt which he wore that night before the crime in the room of the deceased soaked in blood. He futher stated that, the said T. Shirt was identified by one Janet Kyerea who is the girlfriend of the accused.

However, Lawyer Yaw Dankwah representing the accused persons disagreed with his submission. According to him, the deceased was six feet tall and stocky, hence the accused couldn’t have over powered and kill him.

He, however, accused some three Police officers he alleged were impersonating the Police and claimed they were dispatched to the scene by the East Legon Police committed the crime and not his client as claimed by the witness and investigator.

Daniel Asiedu is standing trial for the alleged murder of the former Abuakwa North MP, J.B. Danquah-Adu in February 2016. He is also been charged with robbery while the the second accused Vincent Bossu is facing charges of conspiracy to commit robbery together with Daniel Asiedu, first accused.

Daniel and Vincent have both been charged with conspiracy to commit robbery while Daniel is charged separately with robbery and murder.

Lawyer Yaw Dankwah reacting to Proceeedings in court told Journalists that, it is wrong for the witness to make uncomplimentary remarks against his client.

“As a witness your job is to assist the court to determine the innocence or guilt of the accused person and you are not to form your own opinion. You are to lay bare the facts and evidence which are at your disposal and not to form your own opinion. By forming your own opinion and calling my client a terrible person who is capable of killing means that your entire investigation was compromised by your own personal thoughts, and that is why there were alot of areas where basic things he should have done, he did not do, and it is a very travesty that a senior Police officer for that matter will come to court and and make such a derogatory comment against the accused person,” he said.

The case has been adjourned to February 26, 2024 for continuation.
