Minority accuses the Majority of attempts to scuttle probe into usage of COVID-19 funds

The Minority in Parliament is accusing Chairman of the Health Committee of attempting to sabotage a probe into the COVID-19 expenditure.
Speaker of Parliament directed the ad-hoc headed by the chairman of the health committee Dr. Ayew Afriye.
The committee however sat for only once about 7 months ago.
Raising the matter on the floor of Parliament, Ranking Member for the Health Committee and a member of the ad-hoc committee Kwabena Mintah Akandoh revealed several attempts to get the chairman to call for a meeting have gone unheeded.
The speaker on his part disclosed the standing orders does not allow him to crack the whip on the chairman.

He however urged the committee to take its work seriously.
Addressing the media after proceedings Akandoh said the probe is much more needed given the inconsistencies in the auditor general’s report and the fact that the sector minister Kwaku Agyeman Manu is on his way.
