Canadian Murder Case: Trial to commence May 9

The trial of Safina Adizatu Mohammed, the lady who is alleged to have murdered Frank Kofi Osei, a Ghanaian residing in Canada is set to commence on May 9.

This follows the completion of opening addresses by both Prosecution and Defence lawyers. The Prosecution led by a Senior State Attorney, Nana Ama Adinkra in her opening address said they will call Nine(9) witnesses to testify before the court.

These nine witnesses will include five Police officers and one Michael Fiifi Ampofo alleged to be another boyfriend of the accused.

The Prosecution while urging the jury to return a verdict of guilt at the end of the trial explained that, the deceased was chained by the accused under the pretence of engaging in a sexual act known as Kinky.

According to the prosecutor, the accused was stabbed in the process but was unable to defend himself because he was helpless.

She further narrated that, an autopsy conducted on the deceased on July 29, 2022 indicated that indeed the deceased was stabbed.

The Prosecution stated that the deceased died from unlawful harm which was caused by Safina.

Lawyer Samuel Alesu Dordzi defending the accused asked the jury to give the accused a listening ear and not the rumours that are bundled around.

He said be impartial to all the things that will be said in court.

Safina, a 23-year-old level hundred student of the University of Ghana is alleged to have killed Frank Kofi Osei, a Ghanaian resident in Canada with other accomplices when he visited her at Ashaley Botwe a suburb of Accra while the on vacation in Ghana.

The Prosecution said the deceased was stabbed with a knife and strangled leading to his demise.

Justice Lydia Osei Marfo before adjourning the case asked the jury to uphold the principles of fairness and justice by paying attention to all the evidence that will be presented before them, adding that, they should be unbiased towards both the accused and deceased.
