The National Democratic Congress (NDC) Canada Chapter extends warm congratulations to the people of Ghana on the 67th anniversary of independence.

As Ghana celebrates this milestone, we reflect on the incredible journey of progress and development that the country has undergone since gaining independence in 1957. We commend our brothers and sisters for their resilience, determination, and commitment to building a prosperous nation.

This celebration is not only a time to commemorate the achievements of the past but also to look forward to the future. It is a moment to recognize the visionary leadership that has guided Ghana through its journey of independence and development.

We acknowledge the pivotal role played by Ghana’s first president, Dr. Kwame Nkrumah, in laying the foundation for economic empowerment through his visionary policies. Dr. Nkrumah’s implementation of initiatives such as the 24-hour economy policy paved the way for progress and prosperity in Ghana.

However, we also recognize that Ghana has faced challenges on its path to economic empowerment. In recent years, there has been a deviation from the principles of economic empowerment that were championed by Dr. Nkrumah. Nevertheless, we are optimistic about the future of Ghana under the leadership of H.E. John Mahama, who shares Dr. Nkrumah’s vision and commitment to economic empowerment.

H.E. John Mahama’s call for all Ghanaians to embrace the 24-hour economy policy is a step in the right direction towards revitalizing Ghana’s economy and ensuring sustainable development. We commend his efforts and encourage all Ghanaians to support this initiative come 2025.

As we celebrate our 67th independence anniversary once again, let us also reaffirm our commitment to active participation in the decision-making process of our beloved country. Let us exercise our democratic right to vote and let our voices be heard in shaping the future of Ghana.

We are also admonishing our brothers and sister to safe guide Ghana’s rich cultural heritage and strong family values that has been the pivotal role in shaping the nation’s identity and guiding its path towards independence. As we celebrate this significant anniversary, let us not forget the importance of preserving and upholding these values for future generations.

let us recommit ourselves to the principles of unity, progress, and prosperity that define the Ghanaian spirit. May this anniversary serve as a reminder of the sacrifices made by our forebears and inspire us to continue building a brighter future for Ghana and all its people. Once again, we congratulate the people of Ghana on this special occasion and wish them continued progress, prosperity, and unity in the years ahead. Yes, we can build the Ghana we want together once again.
