Bayern Munich coach Thomas Tuchel is reportedly contemplating a shocking return to Chelsea this summer as he plans for his future beyond the Bundesliga.

Tuchel, who is set to leave Bayern at the end of the season, is open to the idea of mending ties with Blues co-owner Todd Boehly, who dismissed him from the managerial role last season.

German media BILD suggests that Tuchel believes Chelsea’s struggles since his departure may have vindicated his previous position, particularly after the team finished in 12th place last season under Graham Potter’s brief tenure.

Tuchel, during his time at Stamford Bridge, achieved significant success, guiding Chelsea to the Champions League title.

The 50-year-old German manager was sacked by Boehly in September 2022, shortly after the American took over from Roman Abramovich.

Tuchel swiftly joined Bayern Munich last March and enjoyed a dream start by clinching the Bundesliga title on the final day of the previous season.

However, the German tactician has faced challenges in his second campaign with Bayern, currently sitting 10 points behind Bayer Leverkusen in the league table and being eliminated from the DFB-Pokal.

The decision for Tuchel to part ways with Bayern was confirmed recently, opening the door for potential new opportunities.

Boehly’s managerial choices post-Tuchel, including Graham Potter’s brief stint and the subsequent appointment of Frank Lampard on a temporary basis and Mauricio Pochettino, have not yielded the desired results for Chelsea.

Despite substantial investments in the transfer market, the club finished 12th last season, marking their lowest Premier League position in 19 years. The struggles have persisted under Pochettino, with Chelsea currently sitting 11th in the league, a substantial 19 points adrift of fourth-place Aston Villa.

As speculation surrounding Tuchel’s next move intensifies, Chelsea fans are left intrigued by the possibility of a surprising reunion with the coach who delivered European glory to Stamford Bridge not too long ago.
