E/R: 20-year-old jailed 14 years for stealing

Ismeal Ofosu, a twenty-two-year-old unemployed man from Amanfrom – Asamankese, was sentenced to 14 years in prison with hard labor for stealing by the Asamankese Circuit Court presided over by His Honour Abass Abubakari Adams.
The charge violates Section 124(1) of Act 29/60, and the accused was convicted based on his own plea after trial.
Inspector Samuel Owusu, the prosecution officer, informed the court that the complainant, Kelvin Boateng, is a student living in Amanfrom-Asamankese. The accused, Ismael Ofosu, is also an unemployed man living in Amanfrom.
He said. On 18/06/2024 at about 4:30am, complainant woke up from bed and discovered that his Macbook Air Laptop computer value Gh¢9.,000.00 and IPhone SR value Gh¢3,800.00 had been stolen from the room. He reported the matter to the Police for investigation.

On June 19, 2024, police intelligence led to the accused’s arrest and the retrieval of the exhibits.
The accused admitted the offence in his caution statement to police, and following investigations, he was charged with the offence and ordered to appear in court for prosecution.
