For the past 24 years, the NPP’s Kennedy Agyapong has won all parliamentary elections in the constituency, but residents who spoke to journalists say there has been little to no improvement in their living conditions.

“We have been neglected for far too long. Our roads are full of potholes, making it difficult for us to commute, this has hurt our livelihoods,” said a resident who wished to remain anonymous.

In addition to the poor road conditions, residents are also concerned about the rising rate of youth unemployment in the community.

Many young people are struggling to find stable jobs and are forced to leave Assin Wusem in search of better opportunities.

“We need better job opportunities for our youth so that they can stay and contribute to the development of our community. The NPP has failed to address this issue and we are tired of their empty promises,” said Vivian a resident.

During a community durbar at Assin Ewusem Park, John Mahama’s running mate Professor Jane Naana Opoku Agyeman listened to the residents’ concerns and promised to prioritize the improvement of infrastructure and job creation if the NDC wins the December 7 elections.
