The Eastern Region Communication Bureau of the main opposition National Democratic Congress, NDC has described it as unfortunate the state of development in the region despite being the home of President Akufo-Addo.

At the second edition of ‘Eastern Must Know Series’ by the NDC, the party emphasized that President Akufo-Addo as well MPs and other NPP leaders from the region have failed the many people who voted for them in both the 2016 and 2020 elections.

Comrade Kojo Danquah, the Eastern Regional Communication Officer of the NDC, speaking to the media indicated that most roads in the region have been neglected making it unmotorable for road users to ply.

He accused President Akufo-Addo of cancelling most road projects under the cocoa roads in the region with the notion of conducting proper accounts on them but allowed that of Kyebi to continue.

“Kyebi now has good town roads and thanks to John Mahama who offered the project to contractors before leaning office. Meanwhile, most of the roads under the same project were halted for reasons better known to the NPP government” Kojo Danquah stressed.

He used the opportunity to advise the MP for Abetifi, Bryan Acheampong, to channel hi energy in providing good roads for the people in his constituency rather than threatening to do everything possible to win the December elections.

Comrade Kojo Danquah also fingered the Akufo-Addo led government of providing fake information in the performance tracker that displays projects accomplished by the NPP.

He mentioned the Koforidua-Suhum road as one of the many projects that have not seen any development as portrayed in the performance tracker.

The NDC, is therefore, questioning why the NPP’s flagbearer and Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia remained calm on the poor road networks when he toured the region as part of his constituency tour.

“People in the Eastern region are suffering from these road networks and are questioning whether President Akufo-Addo is concerned about the welfare of the people from his own region” he added.
