2024 Elections: You’ll be prosecuted if you engage in violence – Police warns

The National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE) in Fanteakwa South District, Osino, recently organized a meeting to promote peaceful elections in the upcoming polls. The event aimed to ensure that all political parties and stakeholders work together for a smooth and fair electoral process.
In his opening remarks, Mr. Kwadwo Adu-Asare, the District Director of the NCCE, called on all participants to avoid using money in politics, spreading false information, and other actions that could disrupt the elections. He stressed that everyone has a role in keeping the elections peaceful.
The District Police Commander, DSP Mahama Iddrisu, also spoke at the event, reminding all political parties to follow the Public Order Act and comply with all electoral regulations. The District Electoral Officer then explained the consequences of electoral violence and the penalties under the law.
A new set of members was inaugurated to lead the Inter-Party Dialogue Committee (IPDC), with Mr. Dickson Odame elected as the Chair. He urged all stakeholders to prioritize peace during the election period.

To reinforce this commitment, a communique was signed by the political parties present. However, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) was unable to sign due to reasons beyond their control.
