Last Sunday, the Oyoko clan of Akyem Adukrom, led by Abusuapayin Kofi Nyame and Abrewatia Akosua Wireduwaa, officially destooled the acting Queen Mother, Akua Kyeraa. This decision took place in the Abuakwa South District of the Eastern Region.
Akua Kyeraa had served as the acting Queen Mother of the town for almost 20 years.
However, the royal family accused her of disrespecting the elders of the Oyoko clan. They claimed that she often made important decisions without consulting them.
“The acting Queen mother does not represent us she makes decisions on her own without the elders of the town”, Abusuapayin Kofi Nyame said in Twi.

The final straw came when Akua Kyeraa secretly enstooled a new chief, who, according to the family, was not from their royal lineage. This act was done without informing either Abusuapayin Kofi Nyame or Abrewatia Akosua Wireduwaa, which the family saw as a major breach of tradition and custom.
As a result, the clan believed that Akua Kyeraa had shown complete disregard for their authority and customs, leading to her removal from the position.
