Radio 1 (100.7FM) and the Cocoa and Forestry Initiative have launched a new campaign to educate cocoa farmers on maintaining their cocoa plants through a project called Cocoa Agroforestry and Tree Registration Protocol Awareness and Sensitization Creation.

The goal of this initiative is to help farmers protect their cocoa crops while promoting afforestation by providing timber trees for cultivation alongside cocoa plants. The project will be aired live every Monday evening from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. on Radio 1, hosted by Rahintu Shaibu.

Mr. Michael Owusu Manu, the lead consultant of the Cocoa and Forestry Initiative, officially launched the program during Radio1 Morning Show ‘Ɔman Mu Nsɛm’ with Nana Kwabena Addo.

He explained that the program is aimed at educating cocoa farmers in the Tafo, Osino, and surrounding districts about modern cocoa farming practices. These include how to plant and maintain timber trees within cocoa farms, with the goal of boosting cocoa yields and promoting afforestation. Farmers will also receive specific timber seedlings to plant alongside their cocoa crops.
